Casa Milà, better known as La Pedrera (Catalan for 'The Quarry'), is a building designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and built during the years 1905–1910, being considered officially completed in 1912 (...) (from Wikipedia).
If you only have time to visit one modernist house along the Passeig de Gràcia, make it the Casa Mila. Its “real” name is La Pedrera, which means “Rock Quarry” but it earned its nickname as a result of the wealthy family that used to live here. Designed by Gaudí, it was built between 1905 and 1911 and it’s dazzling to visit in the 21st century, it’s hard to imagine how daring it must have seemed at the time. The rooftop features ice-cream swirls and curving pathways that overlook the city, while the art exhibition Espai Gaudí lives inside.
Address: Passeig de Gràcia, 92, 08008 Barcelona.
