Oklahoma City Review

Located at the heart of the state of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City is becoming more and more popular with tourists. The city is served by Will Rogers World Airport, located southwest of downtown. Just about every visitor planning a trip to Oklahoma City will arrive here. Most tourist accommodation can be found in the downtown district, which is easily accessed from the airport.

The city features a number of landmarks that most people add to their Oklahoma City trip plan. Top of the list is often the Oklahoma City National Memorial, which remembers the 168 people killed in the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The memorial – which is located on the site of the destroyed building – also houses a museum dedicated to the tragic event.

Another popular landmark found within Oklahoma City is the State Capitol Building. This impressive piece of architecture makes for a terrific photo opportunity. It’s also an important piece of city history. Speaking of history, the city also houses a number of museums dedicated to a variety of subjects, including science and arts.

But this is cowboy country and the most popular museum is the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum. Visitors flock here to see what life was like in the Wild West. But what would a cowboy be without cattle? Oklahoma City also houses the Historic Stockyards City, one of the largest livestock markets in the entire world. Here visitors can see cattle being sold before enjoying a steak dinner.

Those not bowled over by cattle will find the city to have plenty more on offer. The rejuvenated Brickhill district features a wealth of entertainment and some of the city’s best eateries, while the Oklahoma City Zoo and Myriad Botanical Gardens make for enjoyable visits.

For those looking to catch a game or two, Chesapeake Energy Arena is home to the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team. Fans of the team are commonly regarded as being the noisiest in the whole league, which makes sitting through any game a true experience. Noisy and devoted are two terms that describe fans of the Oklahoma Sooners college football side based in nearby Norman. As with the Thunder, catching a Sooners game alongside 80,000 diehard fans is definitely recommended.
