Omis Review

Omiš is a city and port in the Dalmatia region of Croatia, and is a municipality in the Split-Dalmatia County. The city is situated approximately 25 km (16 miles) south-east of Croatia's second largest city, Split.(...) (from Wikipedia).

Enjoying a scenic spot where the ice blue waters of the Cetina River spill from the rugged Cetina Gorge and join the Adriatic, this old pirate and Venetian stronghold boasts a compact Old Town and the Mirabella and Fortica fortresses, with rafting trips also available in the gorge.

Omis Trips

From Trip: Dalmatia (Croatia) Driving Tour

Day 1: Park near the Old Town and explore its winding streets before climbing into the rugged karst slopes that dominate the town. Follow the path behind Omis Parish Church that leads to the Mirabella and Fortica fortresses. Returning to the Old Town the town beach lies just to the south for a dip in the sea before driving on to Makarska.

9th August
Long drive back to coast (planning to do a daytrip to Mostar if we can but quickest route still via coast road). Stopped to buy figs and watermelon- shafted! Couldn't find a good spot to jump into the sea for a swim. Very hot. Booked Autocamp Sirena on the phone - turned up - no booking. Everywhere full so they took pity and let us park up by the wall on the road through the site. Access straight onto beach and into sea- lovely spot if we had a proper pitch! Met a couple in a british moho - travelling with small children - wife Bosnian - highly recommended Mostar and Camping Solitudo in Dubrvonik.
