Of course, any trip to Amsterdam is not complete without a stroll along one of its beautiful canals. With more than 100 kilometers of waterways within the city, you best not stroll for too long though.
Stepping away from the Amsterdam in any direction brings visitors to a handful of unexpected surprises, including the Dutch cities of Maastricht, also known as “the culinary capital of the world”, Rotterdam – Netherlands “architecture city”, and The Hague, an extraordinary city which is home to a number of top notch art museums. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, any planned trip to the Netherlands should include a visit to the country’s famed windmills, the best of which can be seen in Kinderdijk. For those visiting between late March and the middle of May, the Keukenhof Gardens must be seen. Here, millions of flowers are planted and bloom into a magnificent array of colors.
