Approximately 12 million international visitors plan a trip to Bangkok every year, making Thailand’s capital city one of the most popular tourist destinations in Southeast Asia.

Some of the most popular tourist attractions in Bangkok include the Grand Palace, an impressive structure that mixes architectural designs and housed the monarchy for 200 years, Wat Arun, a stunning Buddhist temple that sits on the banks of the Chao Phraya River; and Wat Suthat, which features the iconic Giant Swing on its doorstep.
Other popular destinations within the city include the Robot Building, which is in fact shaped like a robot, Yaowarat Road and the Chinatown district, and Siam Paragon shopping mall.
Amidst all of this, tourists find themselves enveloped by the sights, sounds and smells of a multitude of street markets, restaurants, bars, and other modern amenities. The city’s hedonistic approach also entices visitors from all over the world, looking to experience everything that the ‘Venice of the East’ has to offer.
Bangkok also makes for a perfect starting point for those that wish to enjoy a boat trip on the Gulf of Thailand, be it to indulge in a spot of fishing or simply to get away from the hectic pace of the city - something worth considering during any Bangkok trip planning.
