Saint-Paul or Saint-Paul de Vence is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. St-Paul-de-Vence, a tiny village perched high on the hills, almost aches with picturesque scenes. Yet, as in many places across France, its panoramic views developed not out of an appreciation for nature but out of the town’s need to defend itself (in this case from the Saracen pirates.) Although St Paul gets crowded in the summer, its warren of cobbled streets and network of handicraft shops still make it a worthwhile daytrip from Nice.
